I was trying to access internet on my Dell E Win 7 via a Netgear repeater. I could connect to the repeater, but it said no internet access, while at the same time my other computer Mac could access the internet via that same repeater.

Anyway, I restarted holding F8, and now it works just fine. Would love to know why this worked Sunday, October 28, AM. I may have found another mechanism that has these same symptoms. I had run thru all the prescribed fixes with no joy. I was trying yet another thing last night and came across a message in a log that my version of Intel ProSet Wireless was not compatible with the version of the driver I was using.

Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Since win 7 hpx64 updated on sun, I've been having problems connecting to the internet. I've found that I can fix it by unplugging my connection to the router during restart and then plugging the cable back in once 7 has fully booted. If I don't, I have network but no internet. I can't keep messing with the cable every time I need to reboot. But, it is important to cover the basics first before moving on to advanced troubleshooting. If you could not get the issue resolved by running the Network Troubleshooter, you will need to make sure that the basics are covered.

If you are using a desktop computer, which uses a wireless adapter to connect to Wi-Fi, make sure that the adapter is properly inserted and is working. If you are getting weak signals, move it closer to the router, the router must be near another cable or telephone jack. This is required when the access point or router is not broadcasting the name of the network.

If you're still have troubles getting Windows to connect to your router, you can try restoring the router's settings to factory settings, you need to reconfigure your Internet connection settings again with your account.

This will build a fresh connection with the internet provider. The steps may vary across the device make and models but more or less are the same:.

Remove the power connection to the modem or router. If your device uses a battery, make sure you take the battery out. Wait for about a minute and then plug it to the power source again.

If the modem uses battery, put the battery back in. Now wait for about a minute or two for the modem and router to turn back on completely.

You should see all the lights back on. Try to install the latest drivers and see if it works. If it still does not work, then you have to install the drivers in compatible mode. This can be done by right-clicking on the executable file, choosing properties, clicking on the compatibility tab and checking the box which says 'Run this program in compatibility mode and then choose the OS.

Try network trouble shooter : If none of the above methods works out, then you can try the built-in network diagnoswtic tool. You have to right-click on the Network icon in the system tray and choose Troubleshoot problems.

It automatically detects what the problem is and give you a possible reason and a solution. Uninstall the network card : You can try to uninstall the network card from Device Manager and let Windows 7 reinstall it again and reboot. Right-click on your network card and choose Uninstall. If prompted to remove the driver, click Yes. Now restart Windows and the default Windows 7 driver will be installed, which might get your connection working again.
